Job Description
Future Integrated Services & Trading LLC (FIS) is seeking a highly competent, certified Lifting & NDT Inspector. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing independent thorough examinations, structural integrity verifications, and non-destructive testing (NDT) on various lifting equipment, machinery, and accessories.
The role demands absolute alignment with strict safety regulations, national guidelines, and international standards (including ISO/IEC 17020, LEEA, and ASNT) to help our clients safely transform their "Challenges into Solutions."
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Lifting Equipment Inspection
Conduct scheduled, periodic, and initial visual and functional third-party inspections on lifting machinery (Mobile Cranes, Overhead Cranes, Forklifts, Telehandlers, MEWPs, Scissor Lifts, and Hoists).
Inspect, test, and certify loose lifting accessories and rigging gear (slings, shackles, chains, webbing, hooks, and eyebolts).
Witness and supervise proof-load testing procedures safely and accurately in accordance with written test procedures.
Evaluate equipment performance, safety switches, emergency controls, and structural integrity.
2. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Perform surface and volumetric NDT examinations on lifting gear, structural welds, and high-stress components.
Utilize specific NDT methods including Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Visual Testing (VT), and Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT).
Properly set up, calibrate, and maintain all NDT instruments and measuring tools, ensuring valid calibration status prior to use.
3. Reporting, Documentation & Compliance
Interpret and evaluate inspection findings against applicable local regulations, client directives, and international codes.
Compile precise, detailed technical field reports and issue accurate TPI certificates or defect reports.
Inform clients immediately of any critical safety hazards, structural defects, or non-conformances requiring urgent remedial repairs.
Ensure all field operations adhere strictly to the company’s ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and ISO/IEC 17020 quality procedures.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
Lifting Inspection: Must hold valid qualifications from the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) (e.g., LEEA Part 1/Foundation, Lifting Accessories (LAC), Lifting Machines Manual/Power, or Mobile Cranes).
NDT Certification: Must be certified to ASNT Level II (or equivalent PCN/ISO 9712) in at least MT, PT, and VT. Experience in UT is highly advantageous.
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical engineering field.
Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of hands-on experience in Third-Party Lifting and NDT inspection within the Oil & Gas or civil construction infrastructure sectors.
Key Competencies & Physical Requirements
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of international standards (ASME, BS EN, ISO) and local statutory safety laws.
Safety & Integrity: Uncompromised ethical standards, sharp attention to detail, and a strict commitment to workplace HSE standards.
Communication Skills: Professional fluency in spoken and written English; capability to prepare technical reports clearly. (Arabic language proficiency is a plus).
Software Literacy: Mentally agile with digital technology; comfortable entering inspection data into digital cloud-based reporting systems and MS Office.
Mobility: Valid Omani driving license is mandatory, along with the physical fitness required to work in demanding field conditions (climbing, heat, and industrial plant environments).
