The Opportunity

Due to the school’s continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring Teacher of Maths to start in August 2026. For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity to undertake the role of Acting Head of Department as maternity cover.

The successful candidate will be able to make a significant contribution in helping establish the Maths Department for Cheltenham Muscat as the best in the city. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong teacher to become part of the team that will establish Cheltenham Muscat as the leading school in Oman.

The School

Cheltenham Muscat opened in September 2021 and is Oman’s first, premium, British school, for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. Set on an outstanding state-of-the-art campus, students and teachers at Cheltenham Muscat benefit from world-class facilities for both academic and co-curricular learning as well as strong support from our partner school Cheltenham College, who have been providing exceptional education for students for over 180 years.



The Person

We are looking for a committed teacher who is passionate about their work and motivated by the opportunity to inspire our wonderful students. The successful candidate will have high expectations of themselves and their students, both in the classroom and beyond, with positive outlook and the ability to build strong relationships with all members of our school community.



Please note that candidates must have at least 3 full years of relevant teaching experience in order to obtain a work permit to teach in Oman.

Teaching and Learning

• To deliver a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum.

• To facilitate high quality learning, providing students the opportunity to achieve their potential.

• To deliver well-planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring the needs of all students are met.

• To ensure lessons in the department are differentiated appropriately, using approaches that enable every student to access the learning and make excellent progress.

• To demonstrate excellent subject knowledge.

• To set students challenging targets and to draw upon varied strategies, resources and technologies to support students in achieving them.

•Supporting the pastoral team as a Form Tutor.



Assessment

• To follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on children’s achievements and to use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping.

• To provide students with regular written and oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback.

• To evaluate all academic data gathered in order to inform curriculum adaptation and ensure that learning is personalised for each student.

• To plan and implement intervention strategies for those students identified as underperforming.



School and Subject Promotion

• To participate fully in the CHM co-curricular and school activity programme.

• To attend specific marketing events such as Open Days at the reasonable direction of the Principal.



Professional Standards

• To attend assemblies, parents’ evenings, school functions and other staff.
